Username Checker
The handles.gg username checker answers three questions about any handle in one pass: is the format valid on each major platform, is the exact name currently listed for sale on the marketplace, and where can you verify live availability. It covers Instagram, TikTok, Telegram, X (Twitter), Snapchat and YouTube — free, no signup.
What the checker validates
Every platform enforces different username rules, and a name that works on one may be invalid on another. The checker tests your input against all of them simultaneously:
- Instagram — 1-30 characters; letters, numbers, periods and underscores.
- TikTok — 2-24 characters; letters, numbers, underscores and periods; cannot end with a period.
- Telegram — 5-32 characters; must start with a letter; letters, numbers and underscores only (no periods).
- X (Twitter) — 4-15 characters; letters, numbers and underscores.
- Snapchat — 3-15 characters; must begin with a letter.
- YouTube — 3-30 characters; letters, numbers, periods and hyphens.
The marketplace check — the part no other checker has
Availability checkers all hit the same wall: platforms do not expose a public availability API, and a "taken" result is a dead end. handles.gg closes that loop. When you check a name, the tool also searches the live marketplace catalog of 4,000+ verified listings: if the exact handle is for sale, you get a direct link to its listing page with the current price, and you can buy it with TON smart-contract escrow instead of waiting years for it to free up. If it is not listed, you see comparable names of the same length that are.
How to check live availability manually
The definitive test for any platform is the profile URL: open instagram.com/name, tiktok.com/@name, t.me/name, x.com/name or snapchat.com/add/name. A 404 means the name is unregistered, banned or reserved. Note that Instagram holds recently-deleted usernames for up to 14 days, and most platforms permanently reserve trademarked or previously-banned names — so a 404 is a strong but not absolute signal.
Why "taken but inactive" is the normal case
Between 2010 and 2015 early adopters registered millions of short, clean usernames that now sit on abandoned accounts. Platforms almost never recycle them. The realistic way to obtain one is a peer-to-peer purchase from the current owner — exactly what the handles.gg marketplace facilitates with verified sellers, escrow protection and 10,000+ completed transfers since 2024.

Who runs these tools
handles.gg is the world's largest peer-to-peer marketplace for rare social media usernames, operated by Quanta LLC (Wyoming, USA) since 2024. The marketplace runs inside a Telegram Mini App with over 4,000 verified handles listed across Instagram, Telegram, TikTok, X (Twitter), Snapchat and YouTube. Every transaction is protected by a TON blockchain smart-contract escrow: the buyer pays, funds lock on-chain, the seller transfers the username, the buyer confirms receipt, and only then is the seller paid — with a full refund if delivery fails. Since launch the platform has completed 10,000+ transfers across 50+ countries with a 100% buyer-side resolution rate on legitimate disputes, a 4.9/5 average customer rating, and 24/7 multilingual support in English, Italian, Spanish, German and French. These free tools are powered by the same live database that runs the marketplace, which is why the numbers they show are real asking prices rather than estimates — see the about page and verified customer reviews for the full story.
